Do you want to contribute to enhancing the visibility and impact of peace research through communication? Are you interested in research communication and skilled in public outreach? PRIO invites applications for the permanent position of Communication Adviser.
PRIO conducts research on topics that are on the top of the global political agenda, including peacebuilding, conflict prevention, security, development, migration, gender, climate change and humanitarian aid. To ensure the impact of our research, it is vital that we effectively communicate our findings to a range of relevant audiences.
The successful candidate will join PRIO's Communication Department, working in a team of five dynamic communication staff. You will play a key role in executing the Institute's communication strategy and engage in a range of research communication activities.
Tasks and responsibilities
- Lead the social media work of PRIO, publishing on multiple platforms with the aim of increasing the engagement and reach of the Institute's research.
- Draft, edit and publish news, blog posts, events and other content to the PRIO website.
- Support the development of episodes of PRIO's successful Peace in a Pod podcast.
- Support in planning and organizing large-scale public events, such as the PRIO Annual Peace Address, and public seminars to highlight PRIO's research.
- Take photos, manage PRIO's image and video archives, and edit visual and audio-visual material.
- Support the Institute's media outreach to Norwegian and international media, including growing the media database and drafting products for dissemination to journalists.
- Support the expansion of our contacts base so that the Institute's information and events reach a wider audience.
- Support other new communication initiatives.
About you
To fill this position, we are looking for a go-getter person with excellent organizational skills, precision, flexibility and an ability to multitask. You should thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. You should be self-motivated and independent, but also a team player. A creative mind and an ability to think outside-the-box is an asset.
We are looking for candidates with at least two years' proven experience in a communication role. Experience in research communication or a related field such as international relations, or peace and conflict studies, is a plus. You should also have an undergraduate degree in a related field. Fluency in written and verbal English is essential. Strong writing and editing ability is a plus. Fluency in Norwegian is desirable. Experience in managing social media platforms in a professional context is an asset, as is experience using Photoshop, Illustrator, Lightroom and Canva.
