The Multidimensional Institutional Representation of Political Systems (MIRPS) dataset extends the Polity data with an alternative measure for participation, using the Polyarchy dataset, to correct for several problems with the Polity participation index. The resulting composite democracy index provided by MIRPS is called the Scalar Index of Polities (SIP) index.
