Professor Abdul Aziz Said will provide an analysis of the Arab Awakening of the 21st Century, focusing on Syria within the larger context of the Arab and Islamic World.

Syrian-born Abdul Aziz Saidis the senior ranking professor at American University and the current occupant of the Mohammed Said Farsi Chair of Islamic Peace. He is the founding director of the International Peace and Conflict Resolution Program and the Center for Global Peace at American University. For decades Professor Said has worked to expand the frontiers of international relations scholarship, improve Islamic-Western understanding, and generate new insights into the cultural dimension of world politics.
