Sovereignty struggles around the world persist today despite many theorists of globalisation who have predicted sovereignty’s decline. This international conference explores cases of contested, compromised, and exceptional sovereignty, especially looking at the ways that sovereignty is asserted and disputed in daily life. Papers will explore debates and conflicts over sovereignty in cases across the globe, from Central Asia and Afghanistan to Spain and Somaliland.
