The signing of the Joint Comprehensive Plan Of Action (JCPOA), on Iran’s nuclear program, was a major diplomatic achievement. The agreement opened up for the lifting of economic sanctions against Iran earlier this year, initiating a new chapter for the Islamic Republic’s relations with the world. Following introductory remarks by Norway’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Børge Brende, Iran’s Foreign Minister Javad Zarif will share his reflections on the opportunities that can be realized in the wake of the agreement. With a particular focus on the implications – politically as well as economically – for relations between Iran and Norway, the discussion will also take a wider perspective, examining the new opportunities at both regional and global levels.
The seminar is jointly hosted by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Innovation Norway, the Embassy of the Islamic Republic in Iran and the Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO).
The event will be chaired by Kristian Berg Harpviken, Director of PRIO.
