Since the 1990s, western humanitarian organizations have increasingly been concerned with developing tools to assess the efficiency of aid delivery, and convincingly communicate organizational transparency and accountability to stakeholders. A range of local and transnational civic actors are crucial providers of humanitarian assistance too. How do they understand accountability, and through what accountability mechanisms do they operate?
In this roundtable closed seminar, Henrik Buljo Anstorp and Cindy Horst will briefly present a recent PRIO report, after which Senior Humanitarian Advisor Thomas Qviller (CARE) and director of civic organization Masahat, Zeina Bali will provide comments to the report. A debate will then be moderated by PRIO Research Director Marta Bivand Erdal.
