On 22 February, the Director of VIEWS, Håvard Hegre, co-led a workshop titled “Counting the Uncounted” for the Stability and Change project. The workshop was funded and hosted by the Centre for Advanced Study (CAS) and focused on the question of how to count those who have not yet been counted when using fatalities data.
During the workshop, VIEWS Researcher Paola Vesco presented “The Underreported Death Toll of Wars: A Probabilistic Reassessment from a Structured Expert Elicitation.” In her presentation, Paola explained a new method that VIEWS plans to implement to reduce the uncertainty of VIEWS forecasts.
