In this morning session, renowned social movement expert Srđa Popović urges us to forge a new understanding of why social movements fail more often than before.
Together with peace and conflict researchers Marianne Dahl and Haakon Gjerløw, he will help investigate what can be done to change the power dynamics from dictators to dissidents and help movements build new strength in an increasingly fast-paced cat-and-mouse game with the world’s most authoritarian regimes.
This event is co-hosted by PRIO and Oslo Freedom Forum, and takes place at the The Conduit Oslo (Portrait Room).
This year's Oslo Freedom Forum will be held from June 3-5 at Oslo Concert Hall and Rebel. In the midst of a global democratic decline, the Oslo Freedom Forum offers an especially important platform to bring together human rights defenders. This year's theme, 'Reclaim Democracy,' emphasizes the central role each individual – both speakers and participants – plays in the global democracy movement.
