As a response to the Norwegian Progress Party's report 'Sustainable Immigration', PRIO researchers Marta Bivand Erdal and Rojan Ezzati have published an op-ed in the Norwegian daily VG. The op-ed is entitled 'Staging immigration as a problem' [Iscenesetter innvandring som problem], and challenges the Progress Party report on four main areas. One of these is that the report underestimates the current patterns of globalization. The measures the report suggests on limiting family reunification, for example, would not only have consequences for immigrants, but also Norwegians without an immigrant background, who constitute the majority of those bringing their spouses to Norway after having met abroad.
