In connection with the launch of the new Women, Peace and Security Index, Melanne Verveer, Executive Director at the Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace and Security and co-founder of Seneca Women, writes on the PRIO Blog that:

The Women, Peace and Security Index has been developed by PRIO and the Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace and Security. The index is the first to capture both peace and security, and women's inclusion and justice.
