Research Director Siri Aas Rustad will take part in the UNDP Symposium "A New Generation of Human Security" later today. The event brings together high-level participants both from the policy world and academia to discuss some of the large issues related to human security.
As part of a panel in the session "Human insecurity as a threat to human development", Rustad will argue that while we see less people killed in conflict, more people are affected by conflict. While these are low level conflict they can still have a large impact in human development such as inequalities, maternal and child health and possibly something on sexual violence.
