Marianne Dahl is the new Research Director for the Conflict Patterns and Environments Department at PRIO.
Prior to this, Marianne has been a Senior Researcher at PRIO since 2017. She is also the Deputy Editor for the Journal of Peace Research, a position she has held since 2017. She joined PRIO as a Research Assistant in 2010.
Marianne’s major research specialist areas include non-violent mobilization, autocratic politics, regime changes and post-conflict stability.
She has held a central part of several projects under PRIO's non-violent mobilization portfolio, including ‘Street Level Autocrats’, ‘Securing the Victory’, and ‘Mobilization for and against Democracy’, serving as the deputy principal investigator for the first two.
She is currently involved in the ‘Peace Science Infrastructure’ project.
Marianne takes over the leadership of PRIO’s Conflict Patterns and Environments Department from Halvard Buhaug, who has held the position since 2022.
Marianne holds a PhD in Political Science from NTNU. She also holds a Masters in Philosophy in Political Science and a Bachelors in Comparative Politics. For further info and bio, please see her person profile.
