PRIO is seeking a new Director to lead the institute. It is looking for an engaged and unifying leader who will contribute to strengthening peace research nationally and internationally.

As the Director of PRIO, the successful candidate will lead a distinguished, international and interdisciplinary research institute. They will assume overall responsibility for strengthening PRIO’s standing, shaping its strategic direction and further developing the institute’s role as an independent body, renowned for its academic integrity. This will require active external engagement, underpinned by a comprehensive understanding of the research sector and its frameworks.

PRIO seeks a candidate with experience in leading knowledge-based professionals and managing organisational development within complex structures. They should have relevant higher education, preferably a PhD, with research experience and a thorough understanding of research policy. As a leader, they are inclusive, inspiring and decisive, with a passion for team-building and fostering a cohesive and trust-based working environment.

The position is a four-year term, with the possibility of renewal for up to three terms in total. The closing date for applications is 23 October 2024.
