Arne Martin Klausen, a social anthropologist born in 1927, died on 15 June 2018.
He was a central figure at PRIO in the pioneer period after the Institute’s foundation in 1959.
He worked for many years at the Ethnographic Museum in Oslo and from 1973 as Professor of Social Anthropology at the University of Oslo.
His main project at PRIO was a study of the Indo-Norwegian Project in Kerala. His doctoral dissertation from this project was later published as a book:
