The aim of this project is to contribute to building security, stability and human rights in the eastern Mediterranean region. The project works with a focus on the regional dimension, since the problems in the region are interlinked. The project has three objectives:

* to build bicommunal contacts and cooperation in Cyprus and support progress towards a settlement of the Cyprus problem;
* to facilitate Greek–Turkish dialogue and confidence- building, with a major focus on the Cyprus problem in 2002; and
* to support the Centre for Research of Societal Problems (TOSAM) in Ankara.
