This project takes off from the Centre's 2016 project entitled 'Education Practices in Federal Systems'. While that project highlighted the needs to account for educational arrangements in the structure of the federal state, this project will address education in a broader perspective, taking into consideration underlying problems that have surfaced in public debate within 2016 and in the early part of 2017.
Specifically, taking a cue from the crisis in February 2017 over the teaching and celebration of the nationalist quest for union with Greece in Greek-Cypriot schools, the project envisions a series of interventions, in report and other formats in debates over education. While the said crisis continues to hold the negotiation process hostage as it is being resolved, analytic questions are being raised, to do both with the content and legislative framework regarding education. The project addresses the second aspect of those questions, in continuation from its analysis of federal education systems.
