A survey of clearance operators and national authorities provides insight into how close three countries are to removing all anti-personnel landmines and cluster munitions.

The project produced new data on how close Lebanon, Mauritania and Zimbabwe are to completing the clearance of anti-personnel landmines and cluster munitions. We carried out a survey of clearance operators and national authorities which provided information on their funding and budgets. We show that Mauritania and Zimbabwe need extra funding, and it is important to maintain planned support for Lebanon. The methods used in this study could be scaled up to provide a comprehensive assessment of how close all affected countries are to competing their commitments to clearing mines and cluster munitions.
