This project aims to obtain a better understanding of demands and processes related to involving the business sector in current national security and defense in the Nordic Region.

The Russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022 brought national security and defense as well as societal preparedness to the top of the political agendas of the Nordic countries. The revitalization of concepts like “total defense” quickly made clear that a broad range of sectors within a state have to align in how they understand and respond to military threats by antagonistic actors. A particularly conspicuous gap in existing research regards the role of the business sector. This project seeks to enhance the research in this area.
