Since 2015, universities around the world have been confronted with calls to decolonise their curricula. In light of that debate, and as part of PRIO’s research portfolio on racialisation, (anti-)racism and discrimination, we studied European university syllabi from courses on African politics, peace and conflict taught in Norway, the UK, and France between 2015 (or earlier) and the present. Our aim was to gauge the diversity of today’s syllabi. We found that the lack of transparency on such syllabi poses a significant barrier to any assessment of change in teaching practices over the last six years.
