Our annual reports give an in-depth overview of the activities and finances of the Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO) in the given year.
“PRIO was the world’s first independent peace research institute. In 2009, we celebrate our 50th anniversary – with publications and seminars about PRIO history, and a scholarly and celebratory programme concentrated in the week of 5–12 June. One of the key events will be a seminar to discuss global trends in peace and conflict. Are we still moving in the direction of a more peaceful world? Is it possible for such a positive trend to continue when the world has been struck by economic crisis, and given the effects and looming threats of climate change? These matters were also discussed at the International Studies Association’s 50th Annual Convention in February 2009, during the final days of the presidency of PRIO/CSCW Research Professor Nils Petter Gleditsch.” – PRIO Director Stein Tønnesson
