International humanitarians could benefit from more open and constructive dialogue about the advantages of using social media to share information transparently among all stakeholders in a crisis situation. Social media and other technologies could help them become more familiar with how parallel systems of collective crisis response operate and inform their own practices to work more accountably alongside local relief networks.
