This paper posits that biometric identification is a key building block of the Internet of Bodies – a concept that envisages the universal socio-technical interconnectedness of uniquely identifiable human beings and the Internet of Things. Furthermore, the paper suggests that the complex relationship between technological transformation and new forms of social organization is best understood through the lens of “technopolitics”, as a constant struggle between hierarchical (universal or global) and egalitarian (distributed or decentralized) forms of sociability and knowledge production.
