Rural-to-urban migration is contributing to improved living standards and realising life aspirations for many across Asia. The animation tells multiple migration stories around education, work or love, enabling social mobility across generations, to Mumbai; a city of opportunity.
This comic was illustrated by Mia Jose, while Karrie Fransman was the scriptwriter. It was produced by PositiveNegatives who also developed an animation. The animation and comic can be viewed in both English and Hindi. This research-based story draws on research from the 'Migration Rhythms in Upward Social Mobility in Asia' project at PRIO, where Marta Bivand Erdal and Karen Liao were the researchers mostly involved in the collaboration with PositiveNegatives.
