This paper aims at examining Russia’s evolving approach to defining its role in the global energy markets with the particular focus on the role of Asia. It starts with the evaluation of lessons that can be drawn (but not always are) from Russia’s G8 chairmanship. Then the developments, problems and prospects in the three key sectors – oil, gas and nuclear – are analyzed consecutively.
