This book has several purposes: It serves as a final report to Riksbankens Jubileumsfond from the 2011-16 East Asian Peace program at the Department of Peace and Conflict Research, Uppsala University; provides a personal narrative of how the program was conceived and carried out; presents rival theories for how to explain the peace; and discusses if the regional peace can hold.
