The development of an early-warning system for armed conflicts will begin at Uppsala University after the European Research Council (ERC) has decided to contribute EUR 2,5 million to the project.
The project is directed by PRIO Research Professor and Professor of Peace and Conflict Research at Uppsala University, Håvard Hegre, and involves PRIO's Håvard Mokleiv Nygårdand Hanne Fjelde, PRIO associate Mathias Basedau, as well as Lisa Hultman, Desiree Nilsson, and an international team of researchers. This team will develop and test the pilot Violence Early-Warning System (ViEWS) which will be publicly available to researchers and the international community.
