Nimet is the founding faculty member of Sabanci University’s Graduate Program on Conflict Analysis and Resolution in Istanbul, Turkey (1998-2014). Her research focuses on international negotiation, dynamics of third party intervention, mediation, middle power foreign policy, and mixed methodology. Her publications have appeared in Simulation and Gaming; The Annals of the American Academy of Political and Social Science; Journal of Social Psychology; Security Dialogue; International Journal of Conflict Management; Foreign Policy (Turkish edition); The Brown Journal of World Affairs; Journal of Applied Social Psychology; and Negotiation and Conflict Management Research. She has offered conflict resolution and mediation training courses and has facilitated workshops with a number of government agencies, NGOs, and community groups in Turkey. During 2014-17 she served as the Chair and Professor of conflict resolution in the Political Science and International Relations Department, at Mardin Artuklu University, Turkey. Currently, she is a member of the International Academic Advisory Council for the Mediation Initiative of the Department for Political Affairs of the United Nations Secretariat. She was appointed a PRIO Global Fellow in 2017.
