Hanne is in 2010 finalising her doctoral dissertation on the role of religion in the Israel Defense Force (IDF). The dissertation is based on a series of interviews with IDF soldiers, and will be submitted to the Department of Religious Studies, at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (see: http://www.ntnu.no/arv).
She has also conducted extensive research on settlement issues and settler movement in the West Bank. Hanne's research is qualitative and interview based. General focus is on the Middle East, Israeli politics, religion, military studies, Israeli settlements, conflict, and culture.
Hanne is attached to PRIO's research project "Comparative Ethics of War" at the Ethics, Norms and Identities (ENI) programe. She was also part of the "Missing Peace: Conflict Resolution and Peacebuilding in the Middle East"-group.
