Research School in Peace and Conflict: Opening the 2013 Academic Year

On Wednesday 24 April 2013, the Research School in Peace and Conflict will open its third academic year. This year marks a new phase, as the Research School is now the recipient of a long-term grant from the Research Council of Norway.

To mark this new phase, the Research School will hold a seminar at PRIO, from 12:00 to 14:00. The keynote speaker will be Kai Eide, who was formerly the United Nations Special Representative to Afghanistan, and Special Envoy of the UN Secretary General to Kosovo. Eide will discuss the relevance of research to peace mediation, especially in the Afghanistan context.

The program will also include comments by members of the Research School’s Steering Committee, and PRIO Director Kristian Berg Harpviken.

The event will begin with a reception. A light lunch will be served.
