Join us at PRIO from 25 to 26 October for a series of public seminars on the impact of artificial intelligence. Over two days PRIO will host four separate events focused on varying aspects of AI. The events will range from how AI will change the face of contemporary warfare, to national perspectives on global AI governance.

PRIO’s AI Days will bring together a range of in-house researcher expertise on the multiple aspects of artificial intelligence, plus a host of external experts. These include Jared Cohen, the President of Global Affairs and Co-head of Applied Innovation at Goldman Sachs, and former CEO of Jigsaw (formerly Google Ideas).

Read more about the events below.

AI on Conflict and Early Warning

This event be composed of a panel discussion on the opportunities and challenges brought about by language-learning models that are used for conflict early-warning systems.

How is AI Changing the Face of War?

This event will discuss what restrictions or prohibitions should be put in place so that harmful weapon technologies are not fielded in times of war. It will also look at what steps can be taken to ensure an ethical culture within organizations that develop and use new AI-based weapon technologies.

Competing Perspectives on Global AI Governance

This seminar brings together researchers with complementary expertise to discuss different perspectives on global AI governance. These include an analysis of the Chinese and EU approaches to AI governance, as well as of the challenges of regulating military AI.

Artificial Intelligence and the Return of Great Power Competition

The technology competition between the US and China was already heated, but the advent of generative AI as the most significant technology created since the Internet, makes the stakes that much higher for geopolitics and humanity. What can past technological revolutions tell us about this moment, how is what we are experiencing different from what came before, and what can we expect to happen next? During this event, Jared Cohen, President of Global Affairs and Co-head of Applied Innovation at Goldman Sachs, will analyze how geopolitics, technology, and global markets are intersecting to reshape our world.
